The Tai-Ex opened up 116-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 14,810 on turnover of 3.9-billion N-T.
The market ended marginally lower on Tuesday, as investors took cues from the losses on Wall Street overnight amid rising concerns over a global economic slowdown.
The bellwether electronics sector led the downturn with large semiconductor stocks in focus following reports Apple plans to scale back hiring, raising concerns over global demand for tech gadgets.
However, select old economy stocks remained resilient throughout the trading day, lending some support to the broader market.
MOFA Refuses to Confirm Pelosi Visit

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it has not received no information about a planned visit to Taiwan by U-S House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
According to the ministry, it will make details of any such trip public in due course (在適當的時候).
The statements come after the Financial Times cited six people familiar with the matter as saying Pelosi could visit Taiwan next month.
Those cited by the newspaper said the 82-year-old lawmaker is planning to lead a delegation to Taiwan in August to show support for Taipei as it faces increasing pressure from Beijing.
Pelosi was previously reported to be planning to travel to Taiwan in early April, as part of a wider trip to Asia.
CECC Relaxes Face Mask Mandate for Bicycle and Scooter Riders

The Central Epidemic Command Center says cyclists, scooter riders and people working in wide outdoor spaces are no longer required to wear face masks.
A wide outdoor space is defined as one that allows a worker to maintain (維持) social distancing with passersby and that includes construction sites.
While cyclists and scooter riders are not required to wear face masks if they are alone, or their pillion rider is a household member.
However, people are still required to wear a face mask at most times when they are outside their homes.
Greece Evacuates Residents Amid Wildfire Threat

Hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes as a wildfire threatened mountainside suburbs northeast of Athens.
Firefighters battled through the night, struggling to contain the blaze which was being intensified by strong gusts of wind (陣風).
The Fire Service said 15 planes and nine helicopters were involved in the firefighting effort on the slopes of Mount Penteli, 25 kilometers northeast of Athens before being grounded at nightfall.
Police officers and firefighters carried elderly residents out of their homes to safety as the flames approached.
Fire officials say that hot and dry conditions persisting for weeks as well as longer term temperature rises have increased the overall risk of forest fires.
US House Approves Marriage Protection
