The Tai-Ex opened down 17-points this morning from Friday's close, at 14,982 on turnover of 2.7-billion N-T.
The market moved higher to close above the 15,000-point mark on Friday, on the back of buying prompted (促使) by a rally on Wall Street, amid eased concerns over policy moves made by U-S Federal Reserve after the American economy shrank in the second quarter.
The bellwether electronics sector led the upturn throughout the session with large cap semiconductor stocks and "Apple concept" stocks in focus, while interest was also seen in old economy stocks as bargain hunters returned to the trading floor.
Taiwan not Mentioned in Pelosi's Asia Itinerary

U-S House Speaker Nancy Pelosi embarked on an Asian tour - but her official itinerary makes no mention of a stop in Taiwan.
According to Pelosi's office, the the "Speaker is leading a Congressional delegation to the Indo-Pacific region, including visits to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan."
The office is not specifying (詳細說明) whether Pelosi might make other stops.
However, international media in reporting that Pelosi is still planning a stop in Taiwan after visiting the Philippines and could arrive in Taipei on Thursday to hold talks with President Tsai Ing-wen.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not commenting on those reports - saying only that it has not received any information about a planned visit to Taiwan by the U-S House Speaker.
Low Pressure System to Affect Taiwan from Today

The Central Weather Bureau says a low pressure system will begin affecting (影響) Taiwan from today.
The system raises the possibility of rain and thundershowers across much of the island.
While areas in the center and south, as well as mountainous areas, could see heavy or brief torrential rain from today through Thursday.
The low pressure system is forecast to have moved away from Taiwan by Friday.
Beirut Grain Silo Collapses After Fire

A section of Beirut's massive port grain silos, shredded in the 2020 explosion, has collapsed after a weekslong fire.
The silos' northern block toppled (倒塌) in a huge cloud of dust on Sunday after what sounded like an explosion.
The recent fire was triggered by grains that had fermented and ignited in the summer heat.
It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was injured.
The 50 year-old giant silos had withstood the force of the explosion two years ago, shielding the western part of Beirut from the blast that killed over 200 people and injured more than 6,000.
After Sunday's collapse, a civil defense official said other parts of the silos could topple as well.
