Tai-Ex opening

The Tai-Ex opened down less a point this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,434 on turnover of 1.8-billion N-T.
The Tai-Ex moved slightly lower on Tuesday as investors opted to pocket early gains on the back of a technical rebound on Wall Street overnight.
However, turnover remained very thin, standing at at a mere 257-billion N-T for the session.
And market watchers say the low turnover was due to investors staying on the sidelines (當旁觀者) amid concerns over possible negative leads during the four-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
Japan Pledges More AstraZeneca Vaccine Doses

The Japanese government is pledging to donate another batch of 500,000 AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine doses to Taiwan.
The announcement was made by Japan's Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi during a press briefing in Tokyo where he said Taiwan has been included in Japan's latest plan to donate vaccines to four Asian countries.
The donation to Taiwan will be fifth time that Japan has chosen to ship vaccines here.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs here in Taiwan is once again expressing gratitude to Tokyo over the latest pledge (誓言、慈善捐贈承諾) of vaccine donation and is describing the move as another true act of deep friendship between both countries.
Siemens Gamesa Wind Turbine Plant Inaugurated

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has inaugurated Taiwan's first nacelle assembly plant.
The assembly facility is located at Taichung Port and is the first such plant dedicated to offshore nacelles outside of Europe.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice Premier Shen Rong-jin described completion of the plant as a milestone for Taiwan's efforts to become a regional hub (中心) for the offshore wind farm industry.
And Shen went on to say that the assembly facility is also a major step forward in localizing the supply chain for offshore nacelles.
Siemens Games says output at the plant will be able to meet demand for Orsted's Greater Changhua 1, 2 and 3 Offshore Wind Farms projects and ensure that all future nacelle assemblies can be carried out here in Taiwan.

Mexico Government on Vaccination Efforts

The Mexican government says it has successfully completed a three-month push to provide coronavirus vaccines to all adult residents of communities along its border (邊境) with the United States.
Mexico said that when it began the effort in June, it hoped the mass vaccinations would aid in lifting pandemic restrictions on non-essential travel across the border.
But that has not yet occurred.
Mexico's public safety department said it was administering the last 64-thousand doses Tuesday to people in the Gulf coast border state of Tamaulipas.
In total, the program handed out 3.8 million shots in 45 townships and cities in six states along the border.
