The Tai-Ex opened down 21-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,332 on turnover of 3.3-billion N-T.
The Tai-Ex followed other regional markets and lost ground on Wednesday, as Wall Street was down after U-S inflation was lower than expected amid unease about the impact of the spread of the coronavirus's delta variant.
Swiss Lower House Passes Motion for Deeper Ties with Taiwan

Taiwan's top envoy to Switzerland is thanking Swiss national councilors for voicing their support for further cooperation with Taiwan in various fields.
The statement comes after the lower house of Switzerland's parliament passed a motion calling improved ties with Taiwan.
The motion urges the Swiss Federal Council to submit a report that details how Switzerland could strengthen ties with Taiwan in the areas of economics, politics, science, and culture.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs here in Taiwan is also thanking the national councilors for submitting and passing the motion- saying Switzerland and Taiwan will both work to strengthen their mutually beneficial relationship based on shared values.
Dine-in Services Resume in New Taipei

Restaurants in New Taipei are resuming dine-in services from today, while public sports and amusement venues in the city are also
reopening.
Dine-in services had been banned and public sports and amusement venues shuttered since September 9 amid concerns over the spread of the coronavirus Delta variant in the city.
New Taipei Mayor Hou You-ih says the decision to lift last week's bans and closures comes as new coronavirus cases in a cluster infection linked to a preschool and apartment complex in the city's Banqiao District were reported on Wednesday.
And Hou says health officials in the city says the situation is now becoming stable.
China Earthquake Leaves 2 Dead

Chinese state media say an earthquake killed at least two people today in the southwestern province of Sichuan.
The magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck at 4:33 a.m. in Luxian county and was about 10-km deep.
Xinhua News Agency reported two dead and three injured in Caoba village.
Houses also collapsed, and rescue work was underway.

Cuba Releases Draft of New Family Code

Cuba has released the draft of a new family code that would allow same-sex couples to marry and adopt as well as give children greater participation in decisions that affect them.
The draft must still be approved by Cuba's parliament then go to a grassroots plebiscite.
It comes almost three years after the island's communist government backed away from enshrining gay marriage protections in its new constitution in the face of opposition.
