發佈於 2021-09-23 10:45:03

The Tai-Ex opened up 72-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 16,998 on turnover of 4-billion N-T.

The market lost ground on Wednesday to drop below the 17,000-point mark, as investors were unnerved by recent heavy losses on Wall Street.

And while selling focused on large-cap stocks in both the electronics and non-tech sectors, select tourism and e-commerce stocks got a boost ahead of the release of the government's latest round of stimulus vouchers.

According to Su, 11.6 million people have now received their first shot.

 DrugResistant Malaria Found in Africa

發佈於 2021-09-23 10:45:03

Scientists have found evidence of a drug-resistant form of malaria in Africa.

Researchers detected genetic mutations (突變) in nearly 20% of blood samples in Uganda by 2019.

That suggests the main drug used against malaria is losing effectiveness there.

Experts worry there could be drug-resistant malaria elsewhere (別處) in Africa and say doctors should consider treatment changes to stop its spread.

The research was published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine.

 Poland Region Revokes AntiLGBT Resolution

發佈於 2021-09-23 10:45:03

A rural region in southern Poland has revoked (撤銷) an anti-LGBT resolution under the threat of losing European Union funding.

The regional assembly of Swietokrzyskie voted in a special session on Wednesday to revoke the resolution, first passed in 2019.

The region was the first area of Poland to rescind (廢除) such a measure after becoming colloquially known as an ``LGBT-free zone''

Its move came after the country's government asked authorities in several regions to revoke their largely symbolic anti-LGBT resolutions.

The EU had put millions of euros of funding to those regions on hold.
