Tai-Ex opening

發佈於 2021-09-28 10:31:02

The Tai-Ex opened down 26-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,286 on turnover of 3.8-billion N-T.

The market gained ground on Monday after rebounding from early loses as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing saw renewed investor interest.

Although T-S-M-C saw gains, other tech stocks came under pressure amid concerns that ongoing power rationing (配給) in China will negativity impact sales.

However, buying rotated to several old economy stocks to lend additional support to the broader market.

 CECC Eases Some Coronavirus Restrictions

發佈於 2021-09-28 10:31:02

The Central Epidemic Command Center says it will be easing some coronavirus restrictions at movie theaters, sports venues, and train stations this week.

Movie theaters, performances, exhibitions and sporting events will no longer be limited to checkerboard seating and instead once again be allowed to be filled to the maximum capacity of the venues.

However, people will still be required to wear masks and to leave their contact details.

Internet cafes, MTVs, KTVs, and mahjong clubs are also set to reopen on October 5, if the coronavirus situation remains stable (穩定的).

But at least 60-per cent of employees need to have received their first coronavirus vaccine dose 14 days prior to the venues being reopened and patrons must wear face masks.

Night clubs and bars are still banned from reopening.

Taiwan Firms in China Could Face Regular Power Rationing

發佈於 2021-09-28 10:31:03

The Taiwan Institute of Economic Research says Taiwanese owned companies with production lines in China could face power rationing on a regular basis as Beijing aims to reduce energy usage and carbon emissions.

According to the director of the institute's Economic Forecasting Center, the current electricity cuts in more than 10 provinces in China have had an adverse (不利的) impact on many manufacturers there, and could become a long-term problem for companies, including Taiwanese firms.

Gordon Sun says Taiwanese manufacturers there should take the issue seriously and think about "relocating their production resources from China in the longer term."

South Korea says North Korea has fired a suspected ballistic missile into the sea.

Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff says the launch (發射) was made off the North's eastern coast this morning local time.

It says South Korean and U.S. intelligence authorities are analyzing details of the launch.

It's the latest in a series of weapons tests by Pyongyang that raised questions about the sincerity of its recent offer for talks with South Korea.

Earlier this month, North Korea carried out its first ballistic and cruise missile tests in six months.
