The Tai-Ex opened up 24-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,572 on turnover of 3.8-billion N-T.
The market gained ground on Tuesday as the main board staged a limited technical rebound from a slump the previous session on the back of gains on Wall Street overnight.
However, turnover remained thin as investors are still concerned over growing inflationary (通貨膨脹的) pressure, which could lead to a more aggressive move by major central banks to raise interest rates and blight the global economic recovery.
MOEA Postpones Decision on Electricity Rates

The Ministry of Economic Affairs is postponing a decision on possible adjustments to electricity rates due to volatile global fuel prices caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and fears over inflation.
The statement comes after the electricity price committee met yesterday for its semiannual review of electricity rates.
According to Vice Economics Minister Lin Chuan-neng, a decision on pricing is now being held off until June 29 at the latest following the advice of a panel of experts.
Lin says the panel argued that incorporating current high fuel prices into the government's formula (公式，程式) for the pricing of electricity would lead to a hike in energy prices, causing already rising consumer prices to spike further.
Taiwan Takes First at 2022 Bakery World Cup in Paris

A team of Taiwan bakers has won first place at the 2022 Bakery World Cup in Paris.
The team of three bakers beat out 10 teams from other countries, including Denmark, Egypt, France, Morocco, Norway, Netherlands and South Korea to take the prize.
President Tsai Ing-wen has sent a congratulatory message to the team, which was conveyed (傳達) by the deputy head of Taiwan's de facto embassy in France, Bernard Liu.
The 2022 Bakery World Cup was held at the Paris Expo Porte in Versailles.
Taiwan placed second in 2020 behind South Korea.
UN Food Chief Warns of Food Catastrophe

The U.N. food chief is warning that the war in Ukraine has created ``a catastrophe on top of a catastrophe'' and will have a global impact.
David Beasley is executive director of the U.N. World Food Program and says the crisis is because many of the Ukrainian farmers who normally produce a significant amount of the world's wheat are now fighting Russians.
At the same time, he says, the crisis is devastating countries like Egypt and Lebanon, which usually rely (依靠) on Ukraine for more than 80% of their wheat.
Beasely points out that Ukraine and Russia produce 30% of the world's wheat supply, 20% of its corn and 75%-80% of the sunflower seed oil.
He says the World Food Program buys 50% of its grain from Ukraine.
