The Tai-Ex opened down 39-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,089 on turnover of $2.8-billion N-T.
The market lost ground on Thursday, as investors reacted to climbing domestic coronavirus cases, lingering concerns about inflation, global rate hike cycles, and Russia's war in Ukraine.
While turnover also remained muted, falling to below 245-billion N-T.
WMA Urges WHO to Allow Taiwan's Participation at WHA

The World Medical Association is calling on the World Health Organization to facilitate (促進) the meaningful participation of Taiwan at the upcoming World Health Assembly.
The call was made in an open letter sent to W-H-O Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom.
And it goes on to request that the W-H-O grant Taiwan observer status to the 75th W-H-A and ensure its participation in all its health programs on a substantive, timely, and professional basis.
The upcoming World Health Assembly will be taking place from May 22 to 28.
Changhua Offshore Wind Farm Begins Feeding into National Grid

A new wind farm off the coast of Changhua County has begun supplying power to the national electricity grid.
According to, Orsted, power from the Greater Changhua Offshore Wind Farm has been delivered for the first time, following the successful installation and energization of the facility's first batch of offshore wind turbines.
The Danish power company says the electricity was transferred to the wind farm's onshore substations then fed into the national grid via Tai-Power's substation in Changhua.
When the project is completed, the Greater Changhua Offshore Wind Farm will have a total of 111 wind turbines, which will produce enough power to supply (共應) a million households in Taiwan.

Haiti Grounds Private Aircraft After Crash

Haiti's National Civil Aviation Office is banning all private aircraft from flying while it investigates the crash of a small plane tht killed at least five people and injured several others.
Authorities did not say when private flights could resume (恢復), adding that the measure is part of a review of private operators.
Thursday's announcement was made a day after a Cessna 207 crashed into a truck transporting sodas in the crowded capital of Port-au-Prince.
A police official told The Associated Press that five people died upon impact, including the truck driver.
Local media reported that the pilot died after being taken to a hospital.
Honduras ExPresident Extradited to US

Honduras has extradited (引渡) former President Juan Orlando Hernandez to the United States to face drug trafficking and weapons charges.
An airplane departed Honduras on Thursday with Hernandez and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration bound for the United States, where he faces charges in the Southern District of New York.
Hernandez was arrested at his home in February at the request of U.S.
authorities.
U.S. prosecutors have accused Hernandez of fueling his political rise with money from drug traffickers. Hernandez strongly denies any wrongdoing.
