The Ministry of Finance says a tax incentive package aimed at encouraging
people to purchase energy efficient electricity appliances will be extended
(延伸；延長) by two years.
The package was originally slated to expire on June 14.

But the ministry says the draft amendment to the Commodity Tax Act to extend
the tax breaks on select energy-saving home appliances until now remain in
place until June 14 of 2023.
The amendment means that up to 2,000 N-T in commodity tax reduction is
offered on purchases of new refrigerators, air conditioners or dehumidifiers
that meet either the Level 1 or 2 energy-saving standard.

- UK PM Sounds Climate Change Warning at UN Meeting

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is warning world leaders that climate
change is a threat to the security of all nations.
At a U.N. meeting on Tuesday, he sharply criticized people who do not consider
the issue a priority, and pointed to weather-related disasters leading people
to violent extremism, human trafficking and causing food scarcity.

Johnson urged the council to demonstrate leadership to protect global peace,
security and stability.

tackle (對付，處理) climate change during the ``inexcusable absence'' of the
United States during the previous administration.
Kerry says the Biden administration aims to put the U.S. on a route to cut
fossil fuel emissions that is ``irreversible by any president or any
demagogue of the future.''
