The Tai-Ex opened up 60-points this morning from Friday's close, at 15,676 on turnover of 4.4-billion N-T.

The Tai-Ex lost ground on Friday, falling below the 16,000 point mark on high turnover after the market hit a new record during the session.

The weighted index soared 334-points at one point during the session to reach the historic high of 16,041.59.

And that rise was boosted by a 6-per cent increase by American depositary receipts of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company.

However, the Tai-Ex closed below the five-day moving average of about 15,636 as several heavyweight large-cap electronics stocks lost ground (失利).
Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says the Central Epidemic Command Center has no plans to close the hospital at which four domestic coronavirus cases have been reported over the past week.

According to the health minister, the floor where the infections occurred has been emptied of patients and those who were being treated by the infected medical personnel have all been transferred into single rooms.

The rest of the hospital remains in operation and officials are now looking at taking steps to improve the hospital's disease prevention measures.

Chen says the decision not to seal off (封鎖) the hospital is based on an investigation in to the cluster infection.

And that probe found all the infections likely came from case No. 838 in the first wave, and Chen says that first wave is now under active control.
Police in New Taipei say they have opened a murder investigation following the death of a factory employee at a dormitory (宿舍) in Wugu District.

According to police, the victim was a 23-year-old Vietnamese migrant worker who was stabbed in the abdomen.

He was rushed to the Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for treatment, but was later declared dead.

Police are now actively seeking one suspect in the case who fled the scene following the incident.

Police say an initial investigation into the stabbing shows it was likely the result of an argument between the two men.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says his government has agreed with a U.N. proposal to delay shipments of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine to some countries, in order to get more doses to poorer countries.

Lopez Obrador said Sunday that the delayed shipments will be made up later.

Mexico has so far received almost a half million doses of the vaccine and has used nearly all of them.

Lopez Obrador criticized wealthier countries, including some in Europe, that have stockpiled (儲存) large amounts of vaccines but have not yet used them.
