Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says the Central Epidemic Command Center is establishing a "command post" at the Taoyuan hospital where five medical workers have now tested positive for the coronavirus.

The health minister says the command post will be in charge of coordinating communication and other efforts taken by the hospital, local health authorities, government quarantine centers, experts, and the epidemic command center in response to the cluster infection.

The command post is being headed by Wang Bi-sheng, the deputy head of the Central Epidemic Command Center's Medical Response Division.

Japan's foreign minister is accusing South Korea of worsening already strained ties by making what he called illegal demands for compensation (賠償金;補償金) for the sexual abuse of Korean women and use of forced laborers during World War II.

A South Korean court ruled on Jan. 8 that Japan must compensate 12 women who were sexually abused in Japanese military brothels during the war.

Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi called the new ruling ``absolutely unthinkable under international law.''

Relations between the countries are already tense over earlier South Korean rulings on Japan's actions during its colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula.

El Salvador authorities say the money sent home by Salvadoran migrants plunged (驟然移動,驟然下降) 40% at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, but then recovered to end 2020 at a record high of $5.92 billion.

The country's central bank says the figure for 2020 was 4.8% higher than the previous year.

Remittances account for 23% percent of El Salvador's gross domestic product and benefit about 360-thousand households.
