The Tai-Ex opened up 52-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 15,711 on turnover of 4.2-billion N-T.

The market took a beating on Tuesday, losing almost 300 points as investors rushed to cut their holdings in the bellwether electronics sector after locking-in early gains.

The selling came amid increasing concerns over a rise in domestic coronavirus cases related to a cluster ((同類物聚集的)串,叢,束,群) of infections at a hospital in Taoyuan.

And that resulted in the Tai-Ex ending the day's session below the 10-day moving average of 15,816 points for the first time so far this year.

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says all 90 residents and employees at a nursing home at the Taoyuan General Hospital have been tested for the coronavirus and the results have all came back negative, except for one that is still pending.

The nursing home is located in a restricted area on the 11th floor of the hospital, where a cluster of 15 coronavirus cases originated.

According to Chen, the tests were carried at the nursing home due to concerns it had not been included in an order issued by the Central Epidemic Command Center for all known contacts (接觸者) of infected people in the hospital cluster to go into home quarantine.

A total of 3,262 individuals linked to the hospital cluster infection now in home quarantine.

The High Court ruling can be appealed.

Lebanon has hit a new daily record for COVID-19 fatalities, registering 73 deaths as protesters took to the streets for a second day to denounce strict lockdown measures put in place to curb (控制;抑制) a surge in infections.

The health ministry said Tuesday the number of new virus-related deaths in a day climbed above 60 for the first time, bringing the total number of deaths in the small country to nearly 2,500.

Daily infections have soared in recent weeks and hospitals have struggled with COVID-19 patients, reporting near full occupancy of ICU beds.

On Tuesday, dozens of protesters took to the streets in Tripoli for the second straight day demanding an end to the lockdown and questioning the government's management of the crisis.

Dozens also gathered in central Beirut, blocking two major thoroughfares in the city's east and north.
