The Central Epidemic Command Center says the crisis caused by the coronavirus cluster infection at Taoyuan General Hospital is now over.

According Health Minister Chen Shih-chung, the final P-C-R tests on hospital employees and contract workers have been completed.

Completion of those tests comes after a final testing project was launched 14 days after the last confirmed case linked to the hospital cluster was reported.

The health minister says the epidemic command center's command post at the hospital has completed its task and the job of returning to normal operations will now be handled by (由...處理) the hospital's administration.

The central bank says it has punished four foreign banks for assisting grain merchants in currency speculation in New Taiwan dollar-deliverable forwards.

According to the bank, the penalties have been handed down after it was revealed in last January that the grain merchants had been engaging in currency speculation totaling 11-billion U-S since July of 2019.

And they received assistance by branches and subsidiaries (子公司;附屬公司) of the foreign lenders, in violation of foreign-exchange regulations.

The central bank has punished Deutsche Bank Taipei branch, the Taipei branches of I-N-G Bank and Australia & New Zealand Banking Group and Citibank Taiwan.

All of the bans are effective from today.

And,

The first provincial highway service area has been opened in Yunlin.

The move is part of a central government initiative to attract (招引;引起) more visitors to remote townships.

The service center is located at the 246-kilometer mark along Provincial Highway No. 61 in Kou-Hu Township.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Transport Minister Lin Chia-lung said "although it is small, it's fully equipped," with a parking lot, restrooms, and a food and drink outlet.

And the minister says he's now hopful the new service area would help bring more visitors to the township to boost its tourism and economy.

South Africa has announced it's pausing the rollout (首次提供) of the AstraZeneca Coronavirus vaccine, after concerns were raised about its efficacy.

At least nine people are dead and 140 are missing in India after part of a glacier in the Himalayas broke off, releasing water and debris (碎片,殘駭) that damaged two hydroelectric plants.

Experts say the disaster Sunday appears to point to global warming.

More than 2,000 members of the military, paramilitary groups and police took part in the search-and-rescue operation, including soldiers expert in mountaineering.

Officials say many villages along the banks of rivers were evacuated. A hydroelectric plant was destroyed, and a plant under construction was damaged.

They also say at least 42 workers were trapped in two tunnels at the plant under construction.

An additional 140 workers at the two plants were missing.
