The Tai-Ex opened up 104-points this morning from Friday's close, at 16,445 on turnover of 6.6-billion N-T.

The market lost ground on Friday as investors opted to (選擇) pocket gains seen in the previous two sessions.

However, losses were limited by a small rally in the final hours of the trading day, which was boosted by strong market liquidity.

And although large cap tech stocks took a beating, optoelectronics and select old economy stocks drew interest to give support to the broader market.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the bloody crackdown by Myanmar's military on pro-democracy protesters are "not acceptable" to the democratic world.

According to the ministry, the military's use of lethal (致命) force against rallying crowds over the past few days has shocked the international community and "such actions are regrettable and are not acceptable to the governments and peoples of democratic countries."

The ministry is also reiterating (重申) its concerns over the rise of tension in Myanmar and it's calling on the country's military to settle political disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.

Taiwan representative office in the country says no Taiwanese nationals in Myanmar have so far been reported harmed during the turmoil.

Representatives and supporters from over 50 civic organizations have participated in the annual march commemorating (紀念) the 228 Incident.

This year's theme was "dismantling authoritarianism and building a new nation."

And the rally began at the Tian-Ma Teahouse in Taipei's Da-Dao-Cheng neighborhood, where the first gunshots rang out on February 28, 1947.

Participants then marched passed various historical sites and ended at the Executive Yuan Building, which formerly served as the headquarters of the Taiwan Provincial Government.

Speaking to reporters, Cheng Zhu-mei, a director at the Nylon Cheng Liberty Foundation said the march was a way of learning from the past and striding toward a better future.

The United States is on the verge of (在..的邊緣) surpassing half a million deaths from Covid-19.

Six members of Mexico's military were killed when the plane they were in crashed Sunday in the southeastern state of Veracruz.

A statement from Mexico's Secretary of Defense said the accident took place in the morning when the air force's Learjet 45 was taking off from the airport in the city of Xalapa.

The statement did not say what caused the crashed but that an investigation was underway (進行中).

Local media reported that the plane left and runway and burst into flames.

The U.N. says Yemen's warring sides did not achieve progress in their latest round of negotiations over a prisoner swap (交換).

The talks started late last month in the Jordanian capital of Amman between representatives of the internationally recognized government and the Houthi rebels.

The prisoner exchange is part of a peace deal struck in 2018 in Sweden.

The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen says the two sides did not agree to release prisoners during this round of talks concluded Sunday in Amman.

The conflict in Yemen began in 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, and much of the country's north.
