Tai-Ex opening

The Tai-Ex opened up 14-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,610 on turnover of 5.7-billion N-T.
The market closed slightly higher Tuesday after hitting another record high late in the session, despite the market edging slowly towards consolidation mode.
And turnover for the session totaled 496-billion N-T -- the second ever highest single day total.
Large cap tech stocks came under pressure as investors pocketed early gains, while buying rotated (輪流做；輪換) to select old economy stocks amid optimism over a global recovery.
Second Domestic Coronavirus Case Reported in a Week

The Central Epidemic Command Center is reporting the island's second domestic coronavirus case in a week.
The cases is also the latest associated with (有關聯的；相關的) China Airlines.
According to the epidemic command center, the new case is an Indonesian woman in her 40s who is the wife of a cargo pilot who tested positive for the virus in Australia on April 20.
She went into quarantine on April 21.
And although testing negative for the disease on the first and second days in quarantine, the woman began to show symptoms on April 26.
She tested positive following a third coronavirus test.
New TRA Head Pledges to Improve Safety Management

Taiwan Railways Administration Director-General Du Wei is stressing that improving safety management is his main priority, as he takes steps to restore passenger confidence in the rail network.
Speaking at his swearing-in ceremony, Du said his priority is to improve overall safety management, both in terms of train safety and the safety of its construction sites, so the agency can regain public trust.
According to Du, such improvements have to be made immediately, with closer monitoring of train safety and reports made to the control center as soon as irregularities (違規；問題) are discovered.
Du says the railways administration will stop working with construction companies that are found to violate safety regulations, undergo reorganization and work to fix its financial problems with the help of the government.
US Relaxes Outdoor Masking Guidance

Mexico Pandemic Deaths Rise

Mexico's pandemic deaths have risen above 345,000, though officials say most states in the country are not seeing any rebound (彈回；跳回) in coronavirus cases.
The government announced plans Tuesday to start vaccinating people between the ages of 50 and 59.
Previously, only front-line health care personnel, teachers and those over 60 had been eligible for the shots.
The government has administered 16.7 million doses to date, for the country's population fo 126-million.
Israeli Soccer Ref Comes Out as Transgender

An Israeli soccer referee has come out as transgender and is living, and enforcing the rules of the game, as a woman.
Sapir Berman announced Tuesday that she has received the support of her family, the local referees' union and Israeli and international soccer officials.
She said even players and fans have begun to address her as a woman, even if they don't always like her calls.
Israeli society has a reputation for being gay friendly.
Tel Aviv is host to one of the world's largest gay pride parades each year.
But some of Israel's soccer powerhouses (強大球隊、權勢集團) are located in communities where attitudes are more conservative.
