The Tai-Ex opened down 61-points this morning from last Thursday's close, at 17,505 on turnover of 15.2-billion N-T.
The market closed flat on Thursday, the final trading day of the week due to the Labor Day longweekend holiday.
And that was despite other regional markets rising on the back of a speech to Congress by U-S President Joe Biden that outlined ambitious (有抱負的；費勁的) plans for jobs-creating spending on public services.
CECC Reporting Four New Domestic Coronavirus Cases

The Central Epidemic Command Center is reporting four new domestic coronavirus cases, including three linked to the Novotel cluster in Taoyuan.
Three of the domestic cases are the husband, son and daughter of a housekeeping employee at the hotel at the Taoyuan International Airport.
The fourth domestic case is the daughter of a China Airlines pilot who tested positive on April 26.
The pilot's other child was confirmed Saturday to have contracted the virus, while the children's mother has so far tested negative.
The cases of the Novotel employees, their family members, and the pilots' relatives are all been classified as domestic.
However, the epidemic command center has not yet classified (將…分類，將…歸類；把…分級) the pilots' infections, including one that was confirmed in Australia.
Migrant Workers Call for Legal Protection as Mother's Day gift

More than 100 migrant domestic workers have been rallying in Taipei, calling for better protection of their rights and welfare.
Many of the workers at the rally were mothers from the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.
They say legal protection is what they would like as a gift for this coming Sunday's Mother's Day.
A spokesperson for the Migrants Empowerment Network in Taiwan, says foreign home care workers here in Taiwan do not have legal protections because they are not covered by the Labor Standards Act.
And according to the spokesperson, enactment (實行，實施) of a household service law would be "the best gift for the 250,000 migrant workers in Taiwan for Mother's Day, especially for those who are mothers."
3 dead as suspected migrant smuggling boat sinks near San Diego, US

Three people have died after a suspected people smuggling boat capsized off the coast of California.
Twenty people have also been taken to hospital.

US Expresses Concern over El Salvador Vote to Remove Judges

The United States says it is gravely concerned over a vote by El Salvador's new congress to remove magistrates of the constitutional chamber of the Supreme Court.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke on Sunday to Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele about the vote on Saturday.
The State Department says Blinken stressed that `'an independent judiciary is essential to democratic governance (（機構或國家最高層的）管理體系).
Blinken also expressed concern about the removal of Attorney General Raul Melara, saying he was a partner of the U.S. in anti-corruption efforts.
Bukele says he is satisfied with the congress' first session, calling it beginning of the change he has promised for the country.
Governing party lawmakers say the court had put private interests above the people's welfare.
