The Tai-Ex opened down 67-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 16,515 on turnover of 7.6-billion N-T.
The market took a beating on Tuesday, as investors were spooked by a plunge in tech stocks on Wall Street overnight.
The weighted index ended the day down 652-points, while turnover stood at 714-billion N-T -- the highest on record.
And market watchers say the heavy losses also reflected cautious market sentiment (觀點；意見；看法；情緒) amid concern over an increase in domestically transmitted coronavirus cases.
Tuesday's losses in terms of points were the Tai-Ex's third steepest-ever.
Health Minister Warns Community Coronavirus Transmission Stage has been

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung is warning that Taiwan has entered the community coronavirus transmission stage.
The statement comes after the Central Epidemic Command Center confirmed six domestic cases of the disease that have unknown sources of infection.
According to Chen, five of the six cases are linked to the Galaxy Baccarat arcade in Yilan, and consist of (由…組成，由…構成；包含) four female employees and a regular customer.
The other domestic coronavirus case is a Taiwanese man in his 60s, who has no recent travel history, and tested positive for the virus after developing a fever on May 9.
Officials say all the patients have relatively low C-T values, which indicates that they were infected recently.
DPP to Campaign Against Pending Referendums

D-P-P spokeswoman Yen Ruo-fang says the party will be actively campaigning against four referendums that are slated to be held on August 28.
Two of the referendums have been initiated by the K-M-T, while the other two have been initiated by (開始，創始) private individuals.
According to Yen, the D-P-P will be calling on voters to cast "no" ballots for all of the referendums, as the results could have a longterm negative impact on Taiwan's economic, energy and trade development.
President Tsai Ing-wen and Premier Su Tseng-chang are slated to host a national policy forum this weekend to discuss thew D-P-P's formal response to the referendums.
Turkey Foreign Minister Meets Saudi Counterpart

Turkey's top envoy has met with his counterpart in Saudi Arabia on his first official trip in years.
Turkey is pushing to repair damaged ties with the kingdom that reached a low point over the 2018 killing in Istanbul of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Turkey's Foreign Minister discussed regional issues and ties with his Saudi counterpart during his two-day visit.
He later wrote on social media that the countries agreed to hold regular consultations (協商會，諮詢會) and establish ``close cooperation.''
US Uber Lyft Offer Free Rides to Vaccination

Peru Investigates Empty Vaccine Syringe Cases

Peru's Health Ministry says it is investigating nurses who are accused of trying to inoculate patients with empty syringes (注射器，注射筒) during the country's coronavirus vaccination campaign.
The ministry says the three known cases were reported in the capital during a campaign that began in March to apply more than 2 million shots.
They say ``three cases are fully identified, both the people and the places.'', and the results of an investigation will be released tomorrow.
Authorities haven't provided a motive for the allegedly flawed vaccinations.
The empty syringes cases follow another scandal, where almost 500 privileged people were secretly vaccinated, including then President Martin Vizcarra, his wife and the diplomatic representative of Pope Francis in Peru.
