The Tai-Ex opened down 5 points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17-thousand and 61, on tunrover of 3.2 billion NT.
It follows the fall on Wall Street where technology and communication companies led a broad sell-off (廣泛賣出) overnight following deadly suicide attacks at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan.
Vice President Receives Medigen Jab

Vice President William Lai has received his first Medigen COVID-19 vaccine jab.
He was vaccinated at National Taiwan University Hospital.
After his shot, Lai appealled to the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect themselves and their families.
Lai's entire vaccination process was broadcast on Facebook Live starting from 7.30 a.m.
He said he felt fine after receiving the shot.

Groups to Donate Clothing to Haiti

Three local organizations say they plan to donate clothing and shoes to Haiti as the country continues to deal with the aftermath (不幸後果) of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake.
The supplies are being donated jointly by Junior Chamber International Taiwan, World Taiwan Foundation and Step30.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the donations will be sent to Haiti early next month and arrive there by the end of October.
The government has already donated 500,000 U-S dollars in relief funds to help Haiti.
Other non-governmental organizations (非政府組織) here in Taiwan, including the Tzu Chi Foundation and the Red Cross Society, have donated supplies including tents, sleeping bags, face masks, gloves, personal hygiene (個人衛生) products and food.
Taipei Zoo Welcomes Endangered Turtle Hatchlings

A critically endangered turtle species at Taipei Zoo has produced two hatchlings from two clutches of eggs laid in April.
The zoo has four male and five female Roti Island snake-necked turtles (蛇頸龜), which were brought there in 2018 through collaboration with an Austrian-based scientific institute and rescue shelter called Turtle Island.
They are not on public display, but the zoo says the two babies were hatched 99 days and 120 days after the eggs were laid, respectively.
It's the first time the species has produced hatchlings at the Taipei Zoo.
According to zookeepers, the baby turtles have so far been eating only fruit flies and maggots (蛆) and have rejected bloodworms (蚯蚓), beef and chicken.
Roti Island snake-necked turtles are carnivorous (肉食性) and endemic (地方特有的) to Rote Island in Indonesia.
