Tai-Ex opening

The Tai-Ex opened up 12-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 18,209 on turnover of $2.6-billion N-T.
The Tai-Ex continued to gain ground from the previous session on Tuesday and remain above the 18,000-point mark, as it followed other regional markets upwards amid optimism (樂觀) sparked by a rally on Wall Street overnight.
KMT Chairman to visit US in Early 2022

K-M-T Chairman Eric Chu will travel to the United States early next year to meet with U-S government officials, lawmakers, as well as think tank representatives.
According to K-M-T's Department of International Affairs, the trip is aimed at communicating the K-M-T's position on various (各種各樣的) issues.
Department Alexander Huang says Chu will travel to the U-S after the Lunar New Year holiday and make stops in Washington, D.C. and other cities on the West and East coasts.
Huang also says the K-M-T chairman is not ruling out the possibility of visiting Japan sometime next year, as the party values its relationship with Tokyo and is keen to interact with Japanese lawmakers and politicians.
Security Being Stepped-Up at Taoyuan International Airport

The Ministry of Transport says it's stepping-up security measures at Taoyuan International Airport.
The ministry's Department of Aviation and Navigation says a total of seven full-body scanners have already been installed at Terminals 1 and 2 and more will be likely be put into operation in the coming months.
According to department deputy director-general Han Zhen-hua, a new carry-on luggage inspection system will go into effect in Terminal 1 beginning next year, which can separate normal luggage from that containing prohibited (被禁止) items.
Han also says similar high-tech security measures will soon be installed at Taipei's Songshan, Taichung Airport and Kaohsiung International Airport.
HK Police Arrest Online Media Company Staff

Hong Kong police say they have arrested six current and former staff members of an online media company for conspiracy to publish a seditious (煽動的) publication.
Officers say the arrests happened early todayy and searches of their residences were underway.
Police did not identify them but online outlet Stand News posted a video on Facebook of police officers at the home of a deputy editor to investigate the alleged crime.
The arrests come as authorities crack down on dissent in the semi-autonomous Chinese city.
US Judge Refuses to Dismiss Alleged Proud Boys Leaders' Charges

A federal judge refused to dismiss an indictment (起訴) charging 4 alleged leaders of the far-right Proud Boys in connection with the Capitol riot.

Mexico Announces Cruise Ships Allowed to Dock with Infected

The Mexican government says it will allow cruise ships carrying people infected with the coronavirus to dock (停靠碼頭).
The announcement today came after two Mexican ports refused to allowed passengers ashore because their ships had coronavirus cases.
The Health Department says passengers or crew who show no symptoms will be allowed to come ashore normally, while those with symptoms or a positive virus test will be quarantined or given medical care.
The department says a cruise ship that was prevented from docking at one Pacific coast port will be allowed to dock farther north, at the port of Guaymas.
