The Tai-Ex opened up 41-points this morning from last Thursday's close, at 18,260 on turnover of 5.3-billion N-T.

The market lost ground on the final trading day of 2021, but remained above the 18,000 point mark, despite low turnover as most foreign institutional investors were away from the trading floor for the New Year's holiday.

The main board performed strongly for 2021 as a whole.

And the Tai-Ex ended above 17,000 points on 135 trading sessions in 2021, accounting for 55-per cent of the total trading sessions.

CECC Reporting Another Potential Hotel Coronavirus Cluster Infection

發佈於 2022-01-03 10:45:00

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says the Central Epidemic Command Center is investigating another potential coronavirus cluster infection at a quarantine hotel in Taipei.

The latest case involves two people who stayed in adjacent (鄰近的) rooms.

The two guests at the hotel tested positive on December 22 and their stay at the hotel overlapped (重疊) for three days.

Both guests have been confirmed as being infected with the Delta variant of the coronavirus.

However, complete genome sequencing has yet to be completed to determine whether the two infections are linked.

Seven of the second case's close contacts have been placed in quarantine, and the pre-school that one of the man's children attends has suspend classes for two days.

The other people who have previously stayed on the floor are now being tested.

 Sudan PM Resigns

發佈於 2022-01-03 10:45:01

Sudan's Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has announced his resignation.

He is calling for dialogue to agree on a ``national charter'' and to ``draw a roadmap'' to complete the country's transition (轉變) to democractic rule.

The moves amid political deadlock and widespread pro-democracy protests following a military coup.

The October coup had upended Sudan's plans to move to democracy after a popular uprising forced the military's overthrow of longtime autocrat Omar al-Bashir and his Islamist government in April 2019.

On Sunday, prior to Hamdock's resignation, Sudanese security forces violently dispersed (驅散) pro-democracy protesters, in the latest demonstrations.

A medical group said at least two people were killed.
