Search Continues for Missing F16V Pilot
發佈於 2022-01-12 13:24:14
The search continues for a missing pilot, as the critical 72 hour period for rescue stretches on.

The Rescue Command Centre says as of this morning, 10 aircraft, 3 ships, 32 land vehicles and 66 search and rescue personnel are working to locate Captain Chen Yi.

The F-16V piloted by the 28-year-old Chen disappeared from radar yesterday afternoon, about 30 minutes after taking off from Chiayi Air Base on a routine training mission.

Efforts to locate the captain continued through the night, and some media reports say an oil slick (油漬) about 20 square meters wide was spotted in the ocean 1-km off Dong-shi fishing port.

But rough sea conditions overnight have left those reports unconfirmed (沒有證實).

    WHO Warning of Omicron
發佈於 2022-01-12 13:24:14
turning to world news....

The World Health Organization has warned that half of Europe will have caught the Omicron Covid variant within the next six to eight weeks.

Dr Hans Kluge said a "west-to-east tidal wave (海嘯)" of Omicron was sweeping across the region, on top of (並且還有) a surge in the Delta variant.

The projection was based on the seven million new cases reported across Europe in the first week of 2022.

The number of infections has more than doubled in a two-week period.

Dr. Kluge said European and Central Asian countries remained under "intense pressure" as the virus spread from western countries into the Balkans (巴爾幹半島國家).

Recent studies suggest that Omicron is less likely to make people seriously ill than previous Covid variants. But Omicron is still highly contagious and can infect people even if they are fully vaccinated.
