發佈於 2022-01-24 10:54:13

The Tai-Ex opened down 56-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,843 on turnover of $5.2-billion N-T.

Shares in Taiwan moved sharply lower the previous session, to close below 18,000 points for the first time in almost a month, hurt by losses on U.S. markets amid concerns over possible (可能的) rate hikes by the Federal Reserve.

Downward pressure was present throughout the session, first with the electronics sector but then spreading to many non-tech stocks, pushing the Taiex below 18,000 points for the first time since Dec. 24, 2021.

The president of Armenia has announced his resignation, complaining that his office is not granted sufficient powers to allow him to be an effective head of state.

Armen Sarkissian was chosen as president by the national parliament in 2018 as Armenia was transitioning (過渡) from a presidential system of government to a parliamentary one.

In his resignation statement Sunday, Sarkissian said that when he decided to take the post, he believed ``the new presidential institution will have tools, opportunities to influence foreign policy, economic, investment policy.''

But, he said, ``the president does not have the necessary tools.''
