The Tai-Ex opened up 45-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 14,484 on turnover of $3.6-billion N-T.
The market recovered from early losses to close in positive territory on Thursday, despite the United States reporting higher-than-expected inflation data overnight, which caused an initial downturn on the local main board.
The bellwether electronics sector led the rebound as large-cap semiconductor stocks, but the financial sector underperformed the broader market as investors remain wary of their reduced asset values in the wake of (隨著) declining overseas bonds prices.
Pingtung to Sets 'Bounty' on Invasive 'Mile-a-Minute Vine'

The Pingtung Forest District Office is offering a 'cash bounty' to help remove an invasive plant nicknamed the "mile-a-minute vine" and "green cancer" because of its rampant growth.
According to the office, the vine thrives (茂盛生長.) in humid, sunny climates and is commonly found in orchards and fallow fields and on mountainsides at elevations below 1,000 meters.
It's listed among the world's 100 most invasive species.
Forest district officials say a series of eight events have been organized to eradicate the vine before its blossoming season starts in winter and residents will be paid 5 N-T for each kilogram they bring in from the wild.
The "vines for cash" events will begin on July 20 in Ma-Zhou Township.
Similar events are also being held in Kaohsiung this summer.

Pakistan Army Officer Abducted and Killed

Pakistani officials say insurgents disguised as security forces have abducted and killed an army officer in the troubled southwestern Baluchistan province.
The colonel was abducted together with his family while traveling on a remote (偏僻的) highway from the town of Ziarat on Tuesday.
The attackers later that night freed the family members but kept the officer.
The chief minister in Baluchistan province says the officer's body was found on Thursday.
The outlawed Baluchistan Liberation Army, which was designated a terrorist group by the United States in 2019, has claimed responsibility for the killing of the officer.
Malawi Elephants Relocated to New National Park

250 elephants are being moved from Malawi's overcrowded Liwonde National Park to the much larger Kasungu park 380 kilometers away in the country's north.
The elephants are tracked in the park and darts are fired to sedate (給…服鎮靜劑.) them.
Teh animals are then moved into the large trucks that take them to Kusungu park.
Officials say so far at least 40 elephants have been moved and the rest should go by the end of the month at a total cost of about $1.5 million to $2 million.
The process is a cooperative project between Malawi's Department of National Parks and Wildlife, the International Fund for Animal Welfare and African Parks.
