The Tai-Ex opened up 98-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 23,126 on turnover of 4.7-billion N-T.
The market extended its momentum (動能) from a session earlier on Tuesday - gaining more than 300-points and closing above the 23,000-point mark on the back of (以...為基礎) strong investor interest in the electronics sector.
Government to Continue Seeking Support for CPTPP Bid

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the government will continue to solicit 徵求) support from member countries to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (跨太平洋夥伴全面進步協定).
The statement comes after the regional trade bloc (地區貿易圈) decided last week not to initiate Taiwan's accession process (入會程序).
MOFA says Taiwan will not give up and will continue efforts to convince (說服) member states that the island has met the high standards required to be part of the bloc.
The trade bloc's committee last week opted (選擇) to put applications by both Taiwan and China on hold, and launch an accession process for Costa Rica, which applied to join the bloc a year later than Taiwan.
Health Ministry to Address Surrogacy Issue in Separate Amendments

The Ministry of Health has announced that it plans to separate the issue of surrogacy (代理孕母) from its proposed package of draft amendments (修法草案) to the Assisted Reproduction Act (人工生殖法).
The draft amendments were first announced on May 14 - with the ministry saying at the time that it aims to broaden access to artificial insemination (人工授精) for single women, same-sex couples, and surrogate mothers.
Those amendments were slated (原訂於) to be submitted to the Legislative Yuan for review this month.
However, the health ministry changed its position yesterday after the proposed "surrogate mother system" included in the draft amendments prompted opposition from women's groups and lawmakers.
South Korea's opposition party calls on President Yoon to step down

South Korea’s main opposition party is urging President Yoon Suk Yeol to resign immediately or face an impeachment (彈劾).
It comes hours after Yoon lifted a short-lived martial law that prompted soldiers to encircle (包圍) parliament.
The liberal opposition Democratic Party, which holds a majority in the 300-seat parliament, says today that its lawmakers decided to call on Yoon to quit or they would take steps to impeach him.
On Tuesday night, Yoon abruptly imposed the emergency martial law, vowing to eliminate (剷除) “anti-state” forces as he struggled to push forward a slew of agendas (一連串議程) at an opposition-dominated parliament.
But his martial law was effective for only about six hours, as the National Assembly voted to overrule (駁回) the president.
Impeaching him would require support from two-thirds of the parliament, or 200 of its 300 members.
The Democratic Party and other small opposition parties together have 192 seats.
UN Security Council convenes urgent meeting on Syria

The United Nations Security Council has convened an urgent meeting to discuss the ongoing escalation of violence in Syria.
Renewed fighting surged (大增) last week led by a terrorist group and other armed factions which according to the UN has destabilised the frontlines (讓前線變得不穩定).
