Sea Warning for Kompasu Lifted

The sea warning for Tropical Storm Kompasu was lifted earlier this morning.
The Central Weather Bureau made the adjustment at 8:30am, as the storm continued to bring heavy rain to the eastern half of Taiwan, particularly for Yilan, Hualien and Taitung.
Kompasu is currently located 390km south-southwest of Eluanbi at the island's southernmost tip.
It is moving westward at a speed of 26-km per hour, with sustained (持續) winds of 101-km per hour, and gusts of up to 126-km per hour.
Work and classes are cancelled for Taoyuan City, Hualien County, and parts of Taitung County
Kinmen and Matsu are also suspending work and classes up until 6pm today.
Six Rescued from River in Hsinchu

Six people have been rescued after becoming trapped in a sandbank near Taigang Yexi hot springs in Hsinchu County.
The people became stuck after water levels rose rapidly due to heavy rainfall.
The six individuals consisted of two groups of three. The local fire department received two separate (分開的) pleas for help yesterday evening.
The department said the rescue operation was made difficult by strong currents.
Local media outlets reported that four people had been pulled to safety as of 10:30 p.m. yesterday.
The two remaining individuals were reported safely rescued just after midnight.

NKorea Kim Vows to Build 'Invincible' Army

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has reviewed a rare exhibition of weapons systems and vowed to build an ``invincible'' military.
He also said his military buildup doesn't target South Korea and there shouldn't be another war pitting Korean people against each other.
At the event meant to mark the previous day's 76th birthday of the ruling Workers' Party, Kim also accused the United States of not taking action to prove it has no hostile (敵對的) intent toward the North.
North Korea has conducted recent missile tests as well as offered conditional talks to Seoul.

Surfers and swimmers have returned to the waves at Southern California's Huntington Beach a little more than a week after an oil pipeline leak (漏出) offshore.

Moderna Has No Plans to Share Vaccine Recipe

The chairman of Moderna says the company has no plans to share the recipe for its COVID-19 vaccine because executives have concluded that scaling up their own production is the best way to increase the global supply.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Noubar Afeyan also reiterated a pledge Moderna made a year ago not to enforce patent infringement (侵權) on anyone else making a coronavirus vaccine during the pandemic.
The United Nations health agency has pressed Moderna to share its vaccine formula.
Afeyan said the company analyzed whether it would be better to share the messenger RNA technology and determined that it could expand production and deliver billions of additional doses in 2022.
