KMT calls for accountability over delayed reporting in tainted oil case

The K-M-T is calling for accountability (誰該負責) in the recent soybean oil case involving excessive levels of a carcinogen (致癌物)- saying those responsible for any delayed reporting, withholding information (隱匿資訊) or supervisory failures should be held accountable.
K-M-T legislative caucus Secretary-General Lin Pei-hsiang is also demanding to know when the Cabinet and the Ministry of Economic Affairs first became aware of the issue and why it was not fully disclosed (宣布) at a food safety
briefing.
That call comes amid after Taiwan Sugar Corporation was accused of knowing as early as May that oil from Central Union was problematic but responded by returning it to the supplier without notifying (通知) the authorities.
Taiwan Sugar has denied any wrongdoing.
Domestic travel trips and spending hit record highs in 2025

The Tourism Administration says people aged 12 and older took a record 247-million domestic trips (國內旅行) in 2025 - an increase of 11-per cent from the previous year.
According to the administration, a recent survey shows that each person on average took 11-domestic trips during 2025, the average trip lasted 1.3 days,
and travelers spent and average of 2,200 N-T per trip.
About 80-per cent of domestic trips were day trips, while 92-per cent were taken independently rather than in groups.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has called for "united action" on border security after the chaotic influx (湧入) of tens of thousands of migrants from Morocco into the Spanish enclave (隔離區) of Ceuta last week.
