Tainan Crop Irrigation Still on Hold
發佈於 2021-06-23 13:35:04
Even with the recent bout of rainfall, crop irrigation (農作物灌溉) in some parts of Tainan remains on hold for now.

The Central Emergency Operation Center says water conditions have improved, and irrigation can resume on July 12th for crops in parts of the south, supplied by the Tseng-wen and Wu-shan-tou Reservoirs.

However, the Tainan city government says over 8,500 hectares of rice paddies in the region were not included, and must await another center meeting for a final decision.

The city's agriculture officials say Tainan's second period of crop irrigation typically begins mid-July, with planting in early August, and harvest in November.

The city is urging the central government to quickly come to a decision on the issue, to ensure that farmers are given enough time to prepare.

Dakota Access lawsuit dismissed; future challenges possible
發佈於 2021-06-23 13:35:04
A federal judge has dismissed the lawsuit filed by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (美國原住民部落) challenging the operation of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

The U.S. District Judge concluded in May that the tribe had failed to demonstrate a, quote, "likelihood of irreparable injury" from the line's continued operation.

But on Tuesday he outlined a path for a future legal challenge to an ongoing environmental review, should the Dakota tribe seek to make one.

The judge indicated if the tribe plans to challenge the outcome of the study it must do so in the form of a new lawsuit that would be assigned to his court.

He also left open the possibility of reopening the case, should any previous orders he made concerning the pipeline be violated.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has spoken with three astronauts (宇航員) who are making the country's space station (太空站) their home for the next three months.

He called their mission an important milestone in China's space industry.

The crew, consisting of former air force pilots, arrived at the Tianhe space station last week.

Xi asked Wednesday morning after their health and living situation aboard the station.

The astronauts, standing ramrod straight in a row, answered in the affirmative and gave a military salute before waving goodbye.

The space agency plans a total of 11 launches to the station through the end of next year.
