Navy Closely Watching Naval Transits

Taiwan's Navy is closely watching other countries' naval vessels as they pass by Taiwan.
The military says a Chinese scout cruiser was spotted in waters off of Hualien early this morning, while a US destroyer was seen off of Taitung's Orchid Island.
The Navy says it closely monitored these vessel's passage, and the situation remains normal.
It adds that a new domestically-manufactured training jet will be deployed to a Taitung base by the end of the year, and testing on the plane has already begun.
The navy isn't sure if this has anything to do with the Chinese vessel's presence (在場、存在) in the area.

Meat market to close for one day

The meat market will close tomorrow for one day in the hope of stabilizing (穩定) pork prices.
The National Animal Industry Foundation says pork price rose to 84.7 NT per kilogram yesterday, the highest in recent months.
It says pigs grow more slowly in hot weather and infectious diseases earlier this year killed many as well.
The Council of Agriculture says supply of hogs is some 30-thousand short, and suspension of the meat market can give hog farmers a chance to catch up.
It'll also give meat market workers a chance to get vaccinated as it'll be required starting tomorrow.

Chung-Hsin Bus Driver Tests Positive, 54 Contacts Test Negative

All contacts of an infected bus driver have tested negative for COVID-19.
The driver of Chung-Hsing's Number 616 bus tested positive on Monday, after a family member had been confirmed positive last week.
56 contacts were subsequently identified and tested, with all returning negative results from quick-screening.
54 have also tested negative from PCR tests, and 2 are still being processed (處理).

Haiti Identifies Latest Suspects in Moise Slaying

Haitian police say a former senator, a fired government official and an informant for the U.S. government are the latest suspects identified as part of a sweeping investigation into the killing of President Jovenel Moise.
The men are among five fugitives whom police say are armed and dangerous as they continued on Wednesday to track down those suspected in the June 7 pre-dawn attack at Moise's private home.
Authorities in Haiti are investigating Moise's killing with help from Colombia's government, which has said 23 of 26 former Colombian soldiers suspected in the slaying (殺害) have been arrested and remain detained in Haiti.
Police say three Haitians also have been arrested and at least three suspects killed.
Poll:Global Interest in Olympics Muted

Global interest in the Olympics is muted (平淡、缺乏熱情), according to an Ipsos poll of 28 countries, with the host country of Japan showing the least interest.
