The Tai-Ex opened up 48-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,568 on turnover of 3.4-billion N-T.
The market lost ground on Monday amid renewed investor concerns (投資人又開始關切) about a rise in domestic coronavirus cases, which this weekend surged (衝上) to their highest levels since June of last year.
Selling was also sparked by worries over a possible aggressive move (可能採取激烈行動) by the U-S Federal Reserve to raise interest rates as inflationary pressure is continuing to increase in America.
DPP and KMT Butt Heads Over Timing of Referendum on Lowering the Voting Age

Legislative Speaker Yo Xi-kun has posted a formal notice in the legislature, announcing last Friday's passage (通過) of a Constitutional amendment to lower the voting age to 18.
However, the amendment still needs to be approved by half of all Taiwan's 9.65 million eligible voters, before it can be put into effect.
Lawmakers from the D-P-P and the K-M-T are now in loggerheads (爭執不下) over when that referendum should be held.
The D-P-P is calling for the ballot to be held in conjunction with (一起) the November 26 local elections.
While the K-M-T is insisting that it not be held that day, accusing the D-P-P of backtracking (倒回) on it's position in last December's referendums, when voters were asked whether referendums should or shouldn't be held in tandem with (跟著) elections.
Central Bank Warning of Crypto Asset Investment Fraud Involving BTMs

The central bank is warning of crypto asset (加密資產) fraud.
It comes amid concern that it's fast becoming one of Taiwan's major investment fraud crimes, with potential victims asked to buy cryptocurrencies (加密貨幣) using bitcoin automated teller machines (存提款機).
The warning has been detailed in a report by the bank in which it describes the development and risks of bitcoin ATMs, as well as the supervision (監控) and management issues concerning its emerging use in international markets (在國際市場上開始興起).
According to the bank, victims have been defrauded (被詐騙) while transferring their money to certain accounts when using a B-T-M to buy e-crypto assets.
The bank says there are 25 B-T-Ms in Taiwan, which is the 25th highest in the world.
Doubts about North Korea's missile test

It might have been hailed as an "unprecendented miracle"(前所未有的奇蹟) by North Korean state media.
But analysts are now questioning whether North Korea's biggest missile test actually happened.
Reports say new details - including discrepancies (不符合之處) spotted in the North's heavily stylized video (有特殊安排的).... featuring leader Kim Jong Un overseeing the launch in a leather jacket and sunglasses - have poked holes (看出有漏洞) in Pyongyang's claims.
Those who spoke to Reuters say that the March 16 launch was expected to be the inaugural launch of the Hwasong-17, but it failed shortly after ignition.
The March 24 missile may have featured a light payload, or none at all, to achieve a higher altitude and longer flight time than the 2017 Hwasong-15 test.
Will Smith apologizes to Chris Rock for Oscars slap

Actor Will Smith has apologized to Chris Rock for slapping the comedian (喜劇演員) at Sunday night's Oscars ceremony following Rock's joke about Smith's wife's shaved head, the result of a medical condition (醫療方面的狀況).
The Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences has said it is opening a formal review (正式調查) into the incident.
