Tai-Ex opening

The Tai-Ex opened up 51-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,353 on turnover of 3.9-billion N-T.
The market bounced back (重振旗鼓) from the previous session on Wednesday, gaining more than 300 points to move back above the 17,000-point mark, but turnover remained relatively thin.
All major stock categories gained ground, with the bellwether electronics sector ending the day up 2.34-per cent and the transportation sector surging 3.31-per cent.
Details on Government Rapid Test Requisition to be Released Soon

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says the government will announce details about its plan to requisition coronavirus rapid test kits in the coming two days.
According to Chen, the government is also seeking to cut the price of test kits to ensure they are "as low as reasonably possible."
The statement comes as opposition lawmakers are calling on the government to regulate the supply of rapid tests and cut prices.
The health minister says people will still be able to purchase rapid tests and they will also be handed out in areas deemed as being at high-risk of the coronavirus after the government requisition program begins.
The program will be operate in the same way that face mask rationing was at the beginning of the pandemic.
A-mei's Remaining Taipei Concerts to go Ahead

The Taipei City government says it is not ordering the cancellation of A-Mei's three remaining concerts at the Taipei Arena.
The statement comes despite several coronavirus infections being linked to earlier shows.
Taipei has already linked five infections to her performances at the Taipei Dome on April 3, 6, 8, and 9.
Other possible cases have also been reported in Kaohsiung, Keelung and Taichung.
A-Mei has canceled the audience interaction segment of her show and concert organizers say the singer and some 500 staff are being regularly tested in accordance with (依据、符合) coronavirus protocols.
US New York Shooting Suspect Arrested

Police in New York have arrested a 62-year-old man in connection with Tuesday's shooting on a subway car.
23 people were injured when a gunman threw smoke grenades and opened fire on a train full of passengers during the morning commute (通勤).

SAfrica Flooding Leaves Dead and Damage

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa says flooding in the Durban area has taken at least 259 lives.
He said the floods are part of climate change.
Officials said Wednesday that the death toll is expected to continue rising as search and rescue operations continue in KwaZulu-Natal province.
Ramaphosa said the province is about to be declared a disaster area by the national government.
Residents have had to flee their homes as they were swept away, buildings collapsed and road infrastructure severely damaged.
Durban port was flooded and shipping containers were swept away (遭沖走).
Authorities were also seeking to restore electricity to large parts of the province.
