CGA Links Seizure of Fishing Boat to New China Coast Guard Rule

The Coast Guard Administration is linking China's seizure (扣留) of a Taiwan fishing boat illegally operating in its territorial waters (領海) to its new regulation authorizing (授權) the Chinese coast guard to seize boats in waters it claims.
According to the administration, Beijing has stepped up harassment (增加騷擾) of foreign vessels since June and the harassment has increased not just in terms of the number of incidents, but also in terms of force used.
Beijing initiated (開始) China Coast Guard Regulation No. 3 on June 15.
It allows the coast guard to board and hold (扣押) vessels in disputed waters it claims.
Tai-Power Chair Stresses Need for Efficient Energy Market to Reach Net Zero

Taiwan Power Chairman Zeng Wen-sheng says he believes Taiwan needs an efficient (有效率的) energy market if it hopes to reach net zero emissions (零排放) by 2050.
Speaking at a climate change summit in Taipei, Zeng said the development of renewable energy (再生能源) requires new technologies and investment, "decisions about which are multifaceted (多方面的)."
However, he stressed the government has many factors to consider, which can make decision-making slow and inefficient.
According to Zeng, if renewable energy-related industries can develop according to market logic, decisions can be made more efficiently, "but it all comes down to renewable energy being able to be traded on an efficient energy market.

Israeli Airstrike Hits Residential Building Next Medical Center in Khan

Palestinian hospital authorities and witnesses say an Israeli airstrike (空襲) slammed into a residential building right next to the main medical center in Gaza's southern city of Khan Younis.
According to Health officials, the strike wounded at least seven people.
Nasser Hospital is located in the western part of Khan Younis, an area inside the Israeli-designated humanitarian "safe zone."(以色列指定的人道安全區)
That's where Palestinians have been told to flee (逃去).
However, the head of the U-N humanitarian office for the Palestinian territories says there are bombings even in so-called safe areas.
The Israeli military estimates some 1.9 million people are now clustered (聚集) in central Gaza.
Slovakia Court OKs Amendments to Penal Code

Slovakia's highest legal authority has ruled that key provisions (條款) of a contentious (有爭議的) amendment of the penal code (懲罰條例) drafted by the government of Prime Minister Robert Fico are in line with the country's
constitution.
The legislation was approved by Parliament in February.
The Constitutional Court says on the changes don't violate the constitution - however, it faces criticism both at home and abroad.
Those changes include abolishing (取消) the special prosecutors' office handling serious crimes such as graft (貪汙), organized crime and extremism (極端主義).
The changes also include reduced sentences for corruption and some other crimes.
