The Tai-Ex opened marginally down (小幅下挫) this morning from Friday's close, at 22,338 on turnover of 4.1-billion N-T.
The market moved higher on Friday after Wall Street rallied (接力上漲) overnight on the back of better-than-expected U-S economic data on retail sales and jobless claims.
That rise spurred investor interest in bellwether electronics sector stocks, led by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, which closed at its high for the trading day.
Cross-Party Delegation of Lawmakers to Attend Democratic National Convention

A cross-party delegation (跨黨派代表團) of lawmakers is heading to the United States to attend this week's U-S Democratic National Convention.
The convention is taking place in Chicago.
The Democratic party will vote to nominate (提名) Vice President Kamala Harris for president and affirm (肯定) her choice of Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota for vice president in November's election.
Both the D-P-P and the K-M-T are sending five delegates to the convention, while one member of the Taiwan People's Party is also part of the Taiwan delegation.
A cross-party delegation of 11 members attended the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee last month.
Lin Yu-ting's Hometown of Yingge Celebrate Olympic Gold

Residents of Yingge District in New Taipei have taken to the streets to welcome Olympic boxing champion Lin Yu-ting back to her hometown.
Lin won gold in Paris in the women's 57-kilogram division and she was honored with a parade in Yingge
Yesterday's event was organized jointly by the New Taipei City government, the district government office, and several local public schools.
New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih presented Lin with a ceramic (瓷做的) Gold Medal Cup to congratulate her on behalf of (代表) Yingge District - which is known for its local ceramic industry (瓷器工業).
Speaking briefly to reporters, Lin said she was happy and grateful to see so many people celebrating her Paris Olympic win.

Northen Ireland WW2 Bomb Removal

Police in Northern Ireland have ordered the evacuation (疏散) of more than 400 homes to remove (移除) what is suspected to be a World War II-era bomb.
Police say the removal operation could take more than five days.
The device was discovered Friday in Newtownards about 15 kilometers east of Belfast.
Police say they appreciate the disruption (打擾) that this has caused, however keeping people safe is paramount (極重要的) and they will not take any risks.
Police have set up barricades (路障) and asked drivers to avoid the area.
