The Tai-Ex opened up 54-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 22,464 on turnover of 5.2-billion N-T.
The market closed slightly higher on Monday but on the lowest turnover since trading on the stock market resumed (重開盤) in February after the seven-day Lunar New Year holiday.
Despite the gains, foreign institutional investors sold a net 3.45-billion N-T worth of shares on the main board.
Under 30's Earn Highest Ever Income in 2023

Workers here under the age of 30 earned an average of nearly 546,000 N-T in 2023.
The government says that figure (數字) is a new high and comes as the island's economy continues to improve.
According to the government, data shows individuals under the age of 30 earned an average of 45,000 N-T a month.
The government says along with a stronger economy, average incomes were up due to a decline in the unemployment rate and the rise of the minimum wage (基本工資，最低工資).
Expanded IVF Subsidy Program Marks 3rd Anniversary with Over 20,000 Newborns

The Ministry of Health says over 20,000 test tube babies have been born in Taiwan since a subsidy program to assist infertile couples with in vitro fertilization procedures was expanded three years ago.
The "Expanded Subsidy for infertility treatment" was introduced on July 1, 2021.
According to the ministry's Health Promotion Administration, the program has helped 18,157 couples struggling with infertility and has led to the birth of 20,539 babies through I-V-F as of July 31.
Health Minister Chiu Tai-yuan says the government expanded the program to "support and help infertile couples achieve their dream of parenthood while easing the financial burden of IVF treatments."

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken says Israel has accepted a proposal to bridge differences holding up (阻擋，拖延) a cease-fire and hostage release in Gaza, and he called on Hamas to do the same.
But he didn't say whether the latest draft had addressed concerns cited (引用) by the militant group.
Blinken spoke after holding a 2 1/2 hour meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, and was expected to travel to Egypt and Qatar today.
This comes after Hamas and another Palestinian militant group have claimed responsibility for what appeared to be a failed bombing attack in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv that killed the attacker and wounded a bystander.

Philippines-US agreement about Afghan Immigrants

The Philippines has agreed to temporarily host a U.S. immigrant visa processing center for a limited number of Afghan nationals aspiring to (希望) resettle (被安置在) in America.
The treaty allies (訂有合約的盟國) announced the decision today but did not give details like how many Afghans would be staying in the Philippines while their special visas are processed (處理).
The U.S. request to host the center had raised security and legal concerns.
But the Philippine government’s approval reflects how relations between Manila and Washington have deepened under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
A senior Philippine official said 150 to 300 applicants would be accommodated in the Philippines under the deal.
The Afghan nationals to be considered for resettlement primarily (大多是) worked for the U.S. government in Afghanistan before the Taliban militants took back power in 2021.
