The Tai-Ex opened down 307-points this morning from Friday's close, at 21,127 on turnover of 6.4-billion N-T.
The market dropped immediately after opening, led by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing that, whose shares fell to 891 NT per share at around 9:30 AM after the tech giant's ADR fell by 4.2-percent in the United States market.
Turnover remained low as well. Many investors took to the sidelines (暫時觀望), waiting for the release of the U-S nonfarm payroll data (非農業就業資訊) for more clues about the state of the American economy.
Submarines to be Built in Updated 2-3-2 Sequence

Reports say seven planned submarines based on the "Narwhal" prototype (原型) will be built in three batches (分成三批) of two then three then two.
According to unnamed sources familiar with the project, the updated 2-3-2 production schedule will be different from the original proposal to build the seven vessels in a 3-2-2 sequence (順序).
Local media said the decision to build two submarines instead of three in the first batch is because the military believes it may want to make further improvements (改進) to the designs for the second and third batches of underwater vessels.
The reports come after the Ministry of National Defense's proposal to build seven submarines from 2025 to 2038 at an estimated cost of 284-billion N-T was approved by the Cabinet last month.
Taiwan Beats Japan to Win U-18 Asian Baseball Championship

Taiwan beat Japan 6-1 at Taipei's Tianmu Stadium to win its first Under-18 Asian Baseball Championship (亞洲青棒錦標賽) since 2007.
It's the third time Taiwan has won the tournament, following victories in 2001 and 2007.
Sunday's game was interrupted (中斷) twice due to heavy rain.
Korea beat the Philippines 8-0 to finish third in the eight-team tournament, which also featured Pakistan, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka.
The tournament's top three finishers qualify for (可以參加) the W-B-S-C 2025 Under-18 Baseball World Cup.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed they shot down another American-made MQ-9 drone flying over the country, marking potentially the latest downing (擊落) of the multimillion-dollar surveillance aircraft (偵察機).
The rebels say the U.S. launched airstrikes over Houthi-controlled territory afterward.
The U.S. military said it was aware of the claim but has “received no reports” of American military drones being downed over Yemen.
The rebels offered no pictures or video to support the claim.
However, the Houthis have repeatedly downed General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper drones in the years since they seized (奪下) Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, in 2014.
Those attacks have exponentially increased (大幅增加) since the start of the Israel-Hamas war.
