French President Emmanuel Macron has detailed plans to do away with an elite
(上層集團；掌權人物；精英) academic institution that's a key pillar of the
country's power establishment, replacing it with a more egalitarian
(平等主義的；主張人人平等的) version.
Macron was addressing hundreds of civil servants by video conference Thursday
about planned reforms in the top ranks of the civil service, including
putting an end to the school widely known as ENA.

The Navy has launched the island's first domestically built landing platform
dock.
The amphibious transport dock has been named "Yu Shan" after Taiwan's highest
peak.
It's the Navy's first L-P-D in the 10,000-ton category and was built by
shipbuilder C-S-B-C at a cost of 4.6-billion N-T.

The prototype is expected to enter service in the first half of next year and
will be replacing the Navy's "Hsu Hai" amphibious transport dock, which has
been in service for 50 years.
The Navy says the vessel will be used to support amphibious operations and
transport missions, and serve as a hospital ship for humanitarian assistance
and disaster relief (救濟) missions in peacetime.
