The Tai-Ex opened down 8.8-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17395 on turnover of $5.6-billion N-T.
Shares in Taiwan dropped more than 160 points yesterday as investors rushed to lock in their profits from the record rise of the three major indexes on the United States markets at the end of last week.
Analysts say non-tech stocks were hardest hit by the profiting taking, particularly in the shipping and steel industries, while large-cap electronics were mixed.
Czech Republic to Donate Vaccines to Taiwan

The Czech Republic has announced that it will donate 30-thousand doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Taiwan.
Czech Health Minister Adam Vojtech says his country, which currently has a surplus of doses, will send off a total of 2.39-million doses to countries in Africa, Asia, and the Balkans.
And 30-thousand of those will arrive in Taiwan.
The move is part of the European Union's "Team Europe Initiative", which aims to give away at least 100-million doses to low and middle-income nations by the end of the year.
Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil says the move demonstrates "concrete help to a country that has already helped us on several occasions".
Groups from Taiwan's local machine industry had raised funds to donate five automated mask production lines to the Czech Republic late last year.
The Czech Republic is the third European country to offer vaccines to Taiwan, after Lithuania, which has pledged 20-thousand doses, and Slovakia, which promised 10-thousand doses.

Cuba Paris Embassy Attacked

Cuba's foreign minister says the country's embassy in Paris has been attacked with gasoline bombs.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez did not offer any details of the incident.
Officials said a fire was started but put out by Cuban diplomats Rodriguez blamed the U.S. government, saying it has been encouraging anti-Cuban sentiment (觀點；看法).
Over the past three weeks, Cuban embassies in many cities around the world have been the scene of demonstrations both against and for Cuba's government in reaction to protests that erupted across the island on July 11 and 12.
Cuba has accused the U.S. government of fomenting (挑起，激起，煽動) a social media campaign aimed at destabilizing the Caribbean nation.
US Florida Condo Collapse Final Death Toll

The final death toll (傷亡；損失) is 98 in the condo building collapse in Surfside, Florida.

Norway Large Meteor Reported

Norwegian experts say an unusually large meteor was visible over large parts of southern Scandinavia and illuminated southeast Norway.
Witnesses say they saw a powerful flash of light for a few seconds as many observers were reported to also hear a roaring sound afterwards.
The Norwegian Meteor Network said that it had analyzed and reviewed several videos of the event Sunday.
It said the meteor first appeared about 90 kilometers north of Oslo and continued its trail in a southwest direction before fragmenting (破碎；分裂) in several flashes of light.
Preliminary data suggested a meteorite may have hit Earth in a large forested area, Finnemarka, not far from Oslo.
Sightings of meteors aren't uncommon over Norway and the Norwegian Meteor Network has a number of cameras continuously monitoring the sky.
