The Tai-Ex opened up 45-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 17,734 on turnover of 5.9-billion N-T.
The market closed slightly lower on Monday as shipping stocks helped it recover most of its earlier losses on the back of a spike in freight rates.
But analysts say turnover was low, at less than 300-billion N-T, on the back of lackluster (暗淡的、無神的) trading in the bellwether electronics sector following heavy losses seen in tech stocks on Wall Street at the end of last week.
List of Those Required to be Fully Vaccinated to be Extended

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says the list of people required to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by January 1 could be extended later this week.
The statement comes after the Central Epidemic Command Center announced that workers at 24 types of government-regulated industries should receive their second vaccine dose by December 17.
According to the health minister, officials are currently reviewing the infection factors at other work places and its highly likely that those viewed as being at greater risk of cluster infections will be added the original (原來的) list of those required to be fully vaccinated.
However, Chen is not saying what 'work places' are being considered as being at high risk of cluster infections.
'Level 3 Coronavirus Alert' Biggest Yahoo New Story of Year in Taiwan

Yahoo News has released its annual list of the year's biggest stories here in Taiwan -- and 2021 belonged to the nationwide level 3 coronavirus alert.
According to Yahoo News, the raising of the alert to level 3 nationwide on May 19 after the country recorded over 100 locally-transmitted cases for several consecutive (連續的) days saw the most keyword searches and the highest number of article views.
While Health Minister Chen Shih-chung has been selected by Yahoo News as this year's top newsmaker after the domestic coronavirus outbreak and vaccines became popular news topics in Taiwan.
Syria Confirms Israeli Airstrikes

Syria's military says Israeli warplanes fired missiles on the port of the coastal city of Latakia causing fire without inflicting (造成) any human losses.
Syria's state media quoted an unnamed military official as saying that several missiles struck the containers area in the port early today setting some of them on fire.
Israel has staged hundreds of strikes on targets inside government-controlled Syria over the years but rarely acknowledges or discusses such operations.
US Announces Diplomatic Boycott of Beijing Olympics

Scientists Accuse German Newspaper of Fomenting Hostility

Scientific organizations in Germany have accused the country's biggest-selling newspaper of contributing to public hostility (敵意) against scientists during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Alliance of Scientific Organization criticized a recent report by the Bild tabloid for singling out (點名、挑出來特別關注) three researchers who had called for tougher restrictions to reduce COVID-19 infections in Germany.
The paper published pictures of the three scientists Saturday with the headline ``Trio of experts give us frustration for the holidays.''
It came days after federal and state officials agreed to tighten rules, particularly for unvaccinated people, amid a surge of new cases.
Publisher Axel Springer, which owns Bild, said it understood the criticism and took it seriously.
