The Tai-Ex opened down 165-points this morning from Friday's close, at 16,295
on turnover of 4.9-billion N-T.

The market moved sharply lower on Friday, as investors remained cautious
ahead of the release of U-S consumer price index data.

The bellwether electronics sector led that decline, with large-cap tech
stocks in focus amid fears that high inflation will prompt the U-S Federal
Reserve to aggressively tighten its monetary policy later this week.

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung has tested positive for the coronavirus.

According to the Central Epidemic Command Center, he began experiencing
symptoms of the disease on Sunday morning, and took a rapid test, which came

Health officials say Chen was confirmed as a coronavirus case after a
telemedicine (遠距醫療) appointment and is now in isolation at home.

Chen says he's in good condition and feeling fine.

Top health officials who have been in contact with Chen in the past few days,
including epidemic command center spokesman Zhuang Ren-xiang and Centers for
Disease Control head Zhou Zhi-hao, have all tested negative after taking
rapid tests.

Other health officials also have no symptoms so far, but are continuing to
monitor their health.

According to the police, the man as confessed to spray painting the sculpture

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg says Turkey has ``legitimate (合理)
concerns'' over terrorism and other issues that need to be taken seriously.

Turkey has accused Finland and Sweden of supporting Kurdish militants and
says it will not back the two Nordic nations joining NATO until they change
their policies.

The demands from Ankara to Helsinki and Stockholm also include lifting
restrictions on arms exports to Turkey and extraditing members of certain
Kurdish organizations that are opposed to Erdogan's government.

Speaking Sunday at a joint news conference with the president of Finland,
Stoltenberg stressed that ``no other NATO ally has suffered more terrorist
attacks than Turkey'' and pointed to its strategic geographic location with
neighbors like Iraq and Syria.

The NATO chief will visit Sweden today for talks with the Swedish Prime
Minister Magdalena Andersson.
